The team

I have been in the construction industry since 1968. Prior to that I spent 6 years at sea. I started to work in the construction industry as a trainee Rigger on tower cranes on 'High-Rise' buildings. In 1970, I attended classes at a Technical College for 12 months and achieved a 1st class Rigging Certificate. Following that, I started to operate cranes from 5 tonne capacity, to finally achieve certificates to operate any mobile crane of all capacities. I have since worked for major construction and engineering companies on site in Australia and New Zealand. I have a certified Rigger, Crane Operator, Rigging Foreman and Rigging Superintendent licences and I have been a Manager for Crane companies, and Operations Manager for major crane Rental Companies.

In 1998, I qualified with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. I also have overseas experience whereby in 2003, I became a qualified Crane Inspector for TUV working in Saudi Arabia as a Tutor and Inspector. So I bring to you more than 40 years of experience to get you started on a new career path or to upgrade your existing career.

" I guess you could class me as your 'Mentor' rather than Tutor! "

Don SLY

Don joined ColeXpert to bring his experience and passion to further enhance our business platform. Don is another 'Old-School' rigging and crane guy. He has been around the industry for 35 years and is part owner and Training Manager at WA Advanced Training Academy (WAATA). He opened the Academy in 2010 with a vision of bringing professional training to Western Australians who wish to start or advance in a chosen career.

Why training?

The use of Cranes and Rigging in all types of industry is leaving qualified Operators and Riggers in short supply, all around the globe. This shortage, inevitably results in more 'Lifting and Crane' related incidents and accidents.

Training in the safe operation of construction equipment as well as Rigging Equipment and Crane Inspections, significantly decreases the risk of those incidents and accidents. These often result in injuries, fatalities and heavy damages. Working accidents occur in all industries, but in the High Risk Industry, the probability of severe injuries or death is more likely. This is why SAFETY needs to be ensured by the right training and carried out by professionals, who know and have the experience to prepare workers theoretically and practically. Training can be conducted in Perth at WAATA for both practical and theory units. Alternatively, the theory unit can be done online through ColeXpert training.

Placement

The placement of High Risk Work personnel is a serious business, which is why companies today are looking for, not only licenced workers but also safe and experienced workers.

ColeXpert can offer a wide range of High Risk Work personnel who meet the standards that companies are looking for in the specific industry that requires them. In today's work environment where there is a 'Zero Accident policy', it stands to reason that only experienced and qualified personnel will fulfil the roles required of them.
